Tom Thumb and The Lifeboat

My plan to not show Kelly my flat until it was tidy went awry when she texted me to ask if she could use my loo. I was depressed by her safe and twee answers to questions on the half hour walk to the theatre. Then when we got to the theatre I realised I'd not thought to bring my glasses and sat through the Chungking Express squinting and looking away periodically. It was a bad film masquerading as a good one, though at least I got to see Wong Faye. Not hot, but I like her song, you're happy so I'm happy too, which did not feature in the film. Then we went to a spit and sawdust pub with a live jazz band called the Lighthouse. After Anna left I dug Kelly out a bit and discovered there is a more interesting person beneath the veneer of vapid.

What was the jazz like? One of those things I've always thought I would enjoy but never really bothered with enough. As for films, I'm still giggling over Guardians of the Galaxy but that is so mainstream.

It was an incredibly loud live jazz band. Scored high on giving the place atmosphere but jazz ain't my thang.
